KYLE CALZIA
Kyle is an avid amateur photographer based in the Bay Area, California.
Now working on freelance projects, Kyle previously served as the Senior Sports Photographer at Mustang News and also worked as a Cal Poly ASI Student Photographer in San Luis Obispo. Kyle has also worked extensively with Cal Poly Athletics, SFBay Media, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, Straight Down Clothing, Dancyn Studio, many Cal Poly clubs and academic departments, and high school sports teams.
His work has also garnered national attention. In 2021, the College Media Association awarded Kyle with a first place individual Pinnacle Award for Best Photo Package for his photo essay on Cal Poly Beach Volleyball. Similarly, in 2021, Kyle won a College Media Association Pinnacle Third Place for Best Sports News Photo, an Associated College Press Individual Pacemaker Fourth Place for Best Multimedia Photo Slide show and Individual Pacemaker honorable mentions for sports game/action photo, sports feature photo.
Kyle is constantly learning and trying to improve his photography. To him, photographs are an incredible way to share our personal stories and adventures. While Kyle is largely self-taught, he is extremely proud of his work as he has progressed throughout the years. Kyle believes that in taking hundreds of thousands of images in the seven years of having a camera (that’s not an exaggeration), he has been able to improve his skills not only with a camera in my hand, but also in post-production, specifically using Photo Mechanic and the Adobe suite of products.
